HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING!

I never really paid much mind to spring in the past, until my first daughter, Olivia, passed away. I’m not sure if it had anything to do with her being a spring baby but it changed my perspective. During that grieving period and when her due date came around, I decided to really give spring a chance.

Spring is a season of renewal and rebirth. Everything that was dead comes alive again: plants, flowers, trees etc. The world wakes up from its slumber, things start to bloom, and the days are getting longer and brighter. I also think the new year should start on the first day of spring but that’s neither here nor there.

Taking all of that into consideration, here are some ways I romanticize the Spring season.

Fresh flowers: I LOVE carnations, in fact they’re my fave flowers and then tulips. I love having fresh flowers in our home and because carnations last so long (2-3 weeks, for me). Spring is the perfect season to start adding floral bouqets in your home. It adds a beautiful pop of colour to your home and livens it up.

Spring cleaning: This is self-explanatory. As someone who truly enjoys cleaning, I look forward to this. I love adding lighter and more pop of colour bedding to our bedroom, lighter curtains etc. I also love going through my closet and pulling out the lighter clothing but at this moment we’re still getting wintry weather so the sweaters are staying for now🥹.

Curating wardrobe: I have no clothes for Spring/Summer so that means shopping! While I love shopping, I’m taking my time this time around to curate my style because it has deifnitely changed. I think starting with basics and then building my wardrobe around them can be a great way to start.

I love these pairings

Gardening: I don’t have an actual garden but I do want to get a couple potted plants. This will take some research because I don’t want to kill anything😮‍💨. I’m also looking to start with very low maintenance plants. It’s one of the new things I want to try this year, so we shall see how that goes.

Creative hobbies: If you don’t have a hobby or two, are you truly living life? I have a handful of hobbies that I currently engross myself in; however, there are some new ones I want to try such as needlepoint, relearning how to type fluently, spanish (again) etc. There are so many new things to explore in this life and I’m excited to add some to my list. What’s something new you’re thinking of trying?

• Farmers market: I haven’t been to the Farmer’s Market in a hot minute and I plan on changing that this Spring. There is something so whimsical about going and browsing/buying fresh produce, fruits, flowers that bring me great joy. If you’ve never been, look up the ones near you and dilly dally on over.

Start moving your body: I took reformer Pilates for the first time last Fall and fell in love with it. The plan is to stick with it, adding to my daily walks in order to keep my body moving. Not everyone likes to work out, go to the gym etc., however, being healthy and in good shape is a top priority. A 30 min walk daily does wonders for you.

I hope your Spring is off to a wonderful start and may the Lord renew blessings and favour in your life, Amen.

Until next time, Abi🤎
