I’ve been toying with this series for a couple weeks and decided why not just start.
I’m also debating if I want it to be a video, podcast or writing series. I’ll see where the wind blows me lol…. For now, it’ll start off in writing.
Staring over and change are two things that can seem like scary but does it have to be? There’s a quiet pressure that comes with your 30s. Society tells you, that you should have your life all figured out and wrapped in a neat bow by the age of 30. If you don’t meet society’s standards by that age then somehow you’re behind, something’s missing, you’ve failed or that something is perhaps wrong, if you’re starting over. That could not be any further from the truth.
The truth is, starting over is becoming. Real life is not linear and will never be. Sometimes things pause, it shifts, breaks and then it rebuilds. Life sometimes asks you to begin again, in a season you were maybe told, “it’s too late”.
There is something courageous and a fierce strength about deciding to start again when you’ve already experienced loss, change, or even disappointment. In your 30s, you restart with wisdom and life lessons. You know what drains you, your intolerances and most importantly, you know what truly matters. That clarity is a foundation.
Everyone’s story is different. Everyone’s timeline is different. So, if you’re feeling “behind”, pause and ask yourself “behind who or what, exactly?” Also, according to who? If it’s one thing I’ve learned over and over again in this life, it’s that people project…hard.
This “Becoming” series is about the in-between spaces of where I am no longer who I am but not yet who I’m becoming. This is about having the courage to say “I am allowed to and have the privilege to start again. I am allowed to grow in real time”.
The Lord is directing my steps and there are so many new things budding in my life at the mooment and I am beyond excited! I have handed over the reigns completely to him beause no longer am I going to try to do it on my own because sometimes, we get in God’s way when He’s trying to help us. I can’t do what He does.
One of my fave verse is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I am so grateful to serve a God that wants the absolute best for me. He wants it for you to.
Let this serve as a reminder that you are not late neither broken. If you’re starting over, whether it’s a career, friendship, love etc., you’re not starting from scratch but from experience.
Becoming is not about who I was. It’s about who I’m still alowed to become.
Until next time, Abi🤎
